Great Mosque of Al-Makmur is located in Lampriet, one of the magnificent mosque in Banda Aceh. People familiar with the name of the mosque Oman, because Sultanate of Oman gave donation to the mosque after the tsunami.
The mosque is built on a land area of 7,571 square meters. The floor area of the mosque is ± 1,600 square meters. Each corner of the room ablution and purification. The floor inside the mosque covered with rugs and walls adorned with calligraphic verses Quran and others. The mosque was built with the architecture of the middle east and has two minarets and a dome.
The origins of the mosque was built in 1979, the laying of the first stone made by the Governor of the Province of Aceh Prof A. Majid Ibrahim and Tgk. H Abdullah Ujung Rimba (Chairman of the Council of Ulema of Aceh). The mosque ready in 1989.
Since 1989, Al Makmur is managed by a management and priesthood. Later in 1992 set as the Great Mosque or Mosque of Banda Aceh. Therefore mosque is to be named the Great Mosque of Al Makmur Kota Banda Aceh
When earthquake and tsunami attacked on 26 December 2004, the mosque was badly damaged. The roof collapsed and broken poles. Furthermore, the new development promised by Sultan Qabus Bin Said of the Sultanate of Oman facilitated by Dr Helmi Bakr from Hilal Merah Indonesia
The mosque was rebuilt on June 19, 2006 after the Memorandum of Agreement Between Chief Country Representative of the Sultanate of Oman in Jakarta with the Mayor of Banda Aceh. Finally on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, the Great Mosque of Al Makmur inaugurated its use. [AW|AZ]
