Pilgrimage to the Tsunami Mass Burial Site in Ulee Lheue

The tomb pilgrims are the people from various tribes and religions. In this place, there were about 14,264 tsunami victims buried.

 The Ulee Lheue Tsunami Mass Cemetery is evidence that fourteen years ago Aceh, including Banda Aceh, had been flat on the ground because of the tsunami. It was the biggest natural disaster in this century. This disaster claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, not to mention those who were lost.

The Tsunami Mass Burial site, for every December 26, becomes the location of pilgrimage for the families left behind. The tomb pilgrims are the people from various tribes and religions. In this place, there were about 14,264 tsunami victims buried.

The location of this mass cemetery is on Jalan Sultan Iskandar Muda, part of Pie Village area, Meuraxa District. It is not so far from Baiturrahim Ulee Lheue Mosque.

Access to this place is also very easy. Moreover, this area has passed by the mass transportation, Trans Kutaraja. So, you will not experience difficulties when visiting.[]
