One of the tsunami tourist destinations in Banda Aceh that you must visit is the Ship above the House. This 20-tonne ship was dragged by a tremendous wave in the middle of the settlement. The ship docked above the residents’ house in Gampong Lampulo, Banda Aceh. This ship saved 59 residents.
The large ship is owned by local fishermen. Until now, the existence of the ship has been maintained as a tourist object in memory of the tsunami that occurred on December 26, 2004.
Lampulo is a coastal village located not far from the shoreline. Fishing boats that lean along the river become an interesting landscape of typical fishing villages. There is also a fish auction place here. Aside from being a tourist village, Lampulo is also a center of Acehnese typical fish (keumamah) production.
With a travel time of only about ten minutes from the city center, Lampulo is one of the tourist destinations that are crowded with travellers, especially in the days of December. Many travellers from various countries came here to experience tsunami track records. For your information, if you visit this site you can have a special certificate too.
